Complete guideFull MedicMess editorial briefing

SALG Patient Safety Conference 2026 is a one-day online meeting for doctors working in clinical anaesthesia, pain management and intensive care medicine who are interested in improving patient safety. The published programme detail is still provisional, but the event page lists themes around paediatric anaesthesia safety, preoperative assessment, fasting variation, drug and medication errors, non-operating theatre environments, perioperative airway and respiratory adverse events, cardiovascular instability, handover and simulation as a safety tool. Resident doctors are invited to submit abstracts on patient safety, especially the 2026 theme of patient safety in paediatric anaesthesia. The call particularly encourages quality improvement work with measurable outcomes, data-driven approaches and collaborative practice change. Highest-scoring submissions will be selected for oral presentation or ePoster, and the stated submission deadline is 23:59 on Wednesday 12 August 2026. Fees shown on the Association of Anaesthetists event page are GBP 165 for non-members, GBP 100 for members and RCoA members, GBP 50 for resident members and RCoA trainees, and GBP 75 for retired members. RCoA members need to email the events team with their RCoA member number to receive a booking code.
