RCPsych in Scotland Forensic Faculty Conference 2026

RCPsych in Scotland Forensic Faculty Conference 2026 takes place in person at the Apex Grassmarket Hotel in Edinburgh on 3 September. The programme covers the mental health needs of asylum seekers in custody, documenting torture and medico-legal reporting, case law, ideologically motivated violence, the future of PREVENT services in Scotland, career reflections in forensic psychiatry and a panel debate about recovery and hospital treatment for transferred life-sentenced prisoners. The day ends with an informal drinks reception and an optional dinner; it will not be recorded or livestreamed.

The call for abstracts is specifically for resident doctors. Oral submissions are for a 10-minute presentation on forensic psychiatry in Scotland and may describe an audit, research study or general project; two oral presentations will be chosen for the programme. The same topic scope applies to posters. The extended deadline for both routes was 17:00 on 7 August 2026. Poster guidance asks for one professionally printed portrait poster, no larger than 90 cm wide by 120 cm high, displayed for the full meeting. Authors are requested to be near the poster during coffee and lunch breaks, although this is not compulsory. The best poster receives £50. Presenters do not receive a free place and must book separately.

Public rates are £160 for a full delegate, £165 for a non-member, £112 for SAS doctors, higher resident doctors and eligible AHPs, £80 for core resident doctors and subsidised or retired delegates, and £55 for medical students and foundation doctors. Booking closes at noon on 27 August. CPD may be claimed at one point per hour of educational activity, subject to peer-group review. Venue parking is very limited and chargeable; nearby public options include NCP Edinburgh Castle Terrace and Q-Park Quartermile.
