Complete guideFull MedicMess editorial briefing

Future of SSI Prevention Conference 2026 is a one-day, in-person multidisciplinary meeting for professionals involved in surgical care across acute and community settings. The organisers explicitly include surgeons, microbiologists, infection prevention and control teams, tissue-viability nurses, theatre staff, managers and researchers. The programme moves from current SSI rates and microbiology through evidence and national guidance, personalised prevention, automated and AI-supported surveillance, caesarean-section SSI, patient experience, holistic wound care and digital implementation. Dr Jon Otter gives the closing keynote on five trends in SSI prevention, alongside faculty from NHS trusts, Oxford, Nottingham and the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

The published agenda runs from registration at 08:30 to closing remarks at 17:00, with exhibition viewing and several sponsored sessions. The organiser expects more than 200 attendees and highlights case discussion, collaborative problem-solving and cross-sector networking. The conference provides CPD credits and a certificate of attendance, although the number of credits is not stated. No abstract-submission route or publication outcome is published, so this should be treated as an attendance and learning opportunity rather than a confirmed presentation opportunity.

Eventbrite shows an aggregate ticket range of £50 to £100 with an early-bird discount applied; individual category names are not visible publicly. Online booking is scheduled to close on 7 October 2026 at 17:00 BST, subject to availability. Park Plaza Victoria London is at 239 Vauxhall Bridge Road. Victoria Underground and National Rail station is approximately a five-minute walk away.
