Each author is responsible for confirming that data are accurate, not extrapolated, and fairly represent the proposed presentation

Aim, Method, Results and Conclusions; case reports are exempt from this structure

Maximum 250 words, excluding the title and the Aim, Method, Results and Conclusions headings
Author Approval
All named authors must review and approve the abstract before submission
Form Completion
All areas of the submission form must be completed or the form will be rejected
Research Integrity
Falsification, plagiarism or misrepresentation is treated as professional misconduct and may be reported to the author's Deanery and/or GMC
Publication Consent
Submission confirms that title, authorship, affiliation and wording are correct and acceptable for publication in the British Journal of Surgery

AUGIS Annual Scientific Meeting 2026 runs from 23 to 25 September at Harrogate Convention Centre for consultants, resident doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, medical students and researchers in upper gastrointestinal surgery. The live 46-session programme includes practical pre-conference courses, plenaries and parallel streams in robotics, endoscopy, bariatric and metabolic surgery, benign upper GI and HPB surgery, oncology, nutrition, governance, early consultant careers, trauma and medico-legal practice. Research sessions include free papers, prize papers, best oral papers, best videos, ongoing trials and the inaugural AUGIS Research Award.

Abstract submission closed at 23:00 on Sunday 5 July 2026, with decisions due in the week beginning 3 August. AUGIS's published specifications set a 250-word maximum excluding the title and the Aim, Method, Results and Conclusions headings; case reports are exempt from that structure and tables are permitted. All authors must approve the submission, commercial or industry involvement must be disclosed, all form fields are mandatory and the intended presenter should submit. Abstracts are anonymously assessed by at least three reviewers, with high-scoring work selected for oral or poster presentation. Accepted and presented abstracts are published online in the British Journal of Surgery.

Early-bird booking now runs until 16 August. The senior/consultant non-member standard rate is £895, with £615 for members; the corresponding early-bird rates are £815 and £495. Resident-doctor standard rates range from £100 for member FY1–CT3 delegates to £395 for non-member ST3+/SAS delegates. Medical-student standard rates are £35 for members and £110 for non-members. Limited free assistant and observer places on selected pre-conference courses are available to medical students and FY1–CT2 doctors registered for the ASM. Registration remains listed until 25 September. CPD accreditation, CPD points and an online option are not currently stated.
