Before you book

• Who is PILS for?

  Doctors, nurses, paramedics, ODPs and other healthcare staff who need skills beyond Basic Life Support; final-year medical and nursing students are among eligible roles. Source ↗

• How long is PILS and how is it run?

  One day in person at a Course Centre: lectures, skill stations and simulations. Manual sent two weeks before; some centres send an MCQ paper. Continuous assessment against core-skill forms. Source ↗

• How much does PILS cost?

  Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Health Academy: £175 for ePILS (pre-course learning plus half a day), dates from October 2026. Source ↗

• How long does PILS certification last?

  Valid for one year. A half-day PILS recertification course is open if your certificate expired within the last twelve months; the new certificate lasts one year. Source ↗
