Before you book

• Who is NLS for?

  Anyone involved in newborn delivery and care, such as doctors, nurses, midwives, paramedics and resuscitation officers. Applicants must hold, or be training for, a professional healthcare qualification. Source ↗

• How long is NLS and how is it run?

  One day at a Course Centre: lectures, skills stations and simulations. Manual arrives a month before; an online MCQ paper is completed beforehand. Assessed by an airway test. Source ↗

• How much does NLS cost?

  Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) Resuscitation Training Department: £250 (NLS, 2027 dates). Source ↗

• How long does NLS certification last?

  Valid for four years. You have up to one year after expiry to recertify on the NLS recertification course (pre-course e-learning plus a half day face to face); after that, the full course. Source ↗

• Does training require NLS?

  RCPCH paediatric training: trainees must complete accredited neonatal and paediatric life support training (NLS, EPALS, APLS or equivalent) during core training, and NLS/APLS before working independently on the tier 2 rota. Source ↗
