Scottish Intensive Care Society Residents Meeting 2026

This one-day national meeting is aimed at critical care residents while welcoming consultants, ACCPs, AHPs and the wider critical care multidisciplinary team. The programme runs from 09:00 to 16:50 and covers transition to CICM and consultant practice, haematological malignancy and CAR-T therapy, influenza in intensive care, airway management and liver failure, alongside three trainee presentations and a prize presentation.

The abstract competition accepts original research, quality improvement work and case reports from any delegate for short oral presentation. Abstracts are limited to 250 words excluding the title and authors and close on 1 October 2026, with successful submissions due to be notified by 23 October. At least one author must register; submissions should state appropriate ethical or regulatory approval for research and QI work, while case reports and case series require written patient consent.

Abstracts are judged on novelty, importance and impact, and all presenters receive a certificate. Work not selected for oral presentation is automatically entered into the SICS ASM 2027 abstract competition, where poster and oral formats will be available. Submission also records all authors' consent to possible publication on the conference website, in the programme or in event promotions.

Published ticket prices are £125 for a non-member consultant, £100 for a non-member resident, ACCP or AHP, and £50 for a foundation doctor. SICS members pay £100 at consultant level or £75 as a resident, ACCP or AHP. BookCPD described accreditation as applied for, so confirmed CPD points were not available when checked.

The meeting takes place at The Scotsman Hotel beside Edinburgh Waverley station. Registration and the programme are available through BookCPD, while abstracts are submitted by email to the address stated on the booking page.
