Introduction, Methods, Results, References; the Introduction is unheaded, with Methods and Results as headings.
Eligible Work
Research, audit and interesting case reports are explicitly invited.
Length Layout
Do not go over one page; template states fixed column width 8 cm and length 23 cm.
Ethics Consent
Declaration confirms ethical approval, written informed consent from research subjects, patient consent for case reports, and explicit conflict-of-interest declarations.
Figures Tables
One figure or table may be included; no colour; each figure/table should have a title and values should state mean (SD) or median (interquartile range [range]) as applicable.
Decision Timing
Authors are expected to be contacted by email in week commencing 2 November 2026 or before.
Submission Method
Email the abstract to katefenton-jarvis@eventmanagementdirect.co.uk with a completed signed declaration form.
Poster Specification
Posters should be up to A1 size, single sheet 59.4 cm x 84 cm, portrait orientation.
Presenter Requirement
All presenters must pay for meeting registration.
Prior Presentation Rule
Abstracts cannot be submitted if they have already been presented at a national or international meeting.

BSOA Annual Scientific Meeting 2026 is a two-day orthopaedic anaesthesia meeting at Rhodes House, Oxford, with a practical Thursday morning workshop and demonstration programme followed by themed scientific sessions.

The programme covers regional anaesthesia masterclasses for shoulder, ankle, chest wall trauma, knee and hip surgery, POCUS, trauma kit, airway rescue and positioning demonstrations, then sessions on medical optimisation, RA-UK collaboration, orthopaedic surgery, paediatric orthopaedic anaesthesia and service development.

Friday includes registrar prize oral presentations, poster presentations, a Presidential Medal Lecture and a keynote from Prof Kariem El Bogdadly. Abstract submission is open for research, audit and case reports until 11:59pm on Sunday 18 October 2026.

Submissions are emailed with a signed declaration form, must not have been presented previously at a national or international meeting, and successful work may be selected for oral or poster presentation. The template requires a one-page abstract with Introduction, Methods, Results and References; one figure or table is allowed, without colour.

Presenters must register for the meeting. Registration is priced in GBP, with consultant/SAS non-member standard two-day registration at GBP 540 and resident doctor non-member standard registration at GBP 270; early-bird non-member consultant/SAS registration is GBP 495.

Rhodes House has no visitor parking, so delegates should plan rail, park-and-ride or taxi travel.
