BIR Annual Congress 2026

BIR Annual Congress 2026 takes place at The Birmingham Conference & Events Centre on 12-13 November 2026. Its theme is "Optimising Clinical Outcomes with Practical Imaging", delivered through two parallel streams covering abdominal and paediatric imaging, women's imaging, spine and MSK, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine and imaging physics, AI, leadership, wellbeing, GU and out-of-hours imaging. Named programme features include the Sir Godfrey Hounsfield Lecture with Dr Anita Wale, the Mayneord Lecture with Prof Simon R. Cherry, a Bayer liver-imaging symposium with Prof Mark Callaway, proffered-paper presentations, BIR Awards and a first-day drinks reception.

Abstracts close on 31 August 2026. The event-specific form accepts poster submissions up to 500 words and requires a title, author list, submitter job title, institution, phone number and one of 28 categories. Accepted authors submit an online ePoster for the congress touchscreens and online display; top submissions may also be selected for oral presentation. BIR says accepted abstracts may be published in the event programme, the presenting author must register and pay, and accepted abstract authors receive 20% off registration. The BIR page states 23:59 GMT on 31 August, while Fourwaves metadata shows 21:00 BST, so submitting before the earlier platform time is prudent.

The congress offers up to 18 CPD credits. Public fees are £450 non-member standard or £350 early bird, £180/£100 for BIR trainee members, and £80/£60 for BIR student or retired members. Early-bird pricing ends on 1 October 2026. Groups of three or more receive 20% off. Accommodation rates are available through Reservation Highway near the Hill Street venue.
