The ARU School of Medicine Research Conference and Lord Ribeiro Lecture is a free, in-person research day in Chelmsford on 30 September 2026. It brings together undergraduate medicine and physician-associate students, resident doctors, clinical academic trainees, postgraduate researchers, ARU staff and colleagues from regional NHS trusts. Professor Sir Michael Marmot will deliver the Lord Ribeiro Lecture and opening keynote, drawing on his work in epidemiology, public health and health equity. Professor Margaret Greenfields is also named as a guest speaker, focusing on policy and equitable outcomes for minoritised communities.
The conference includes invited talks, parallel oral-presentation workshops, posters displayed through the day and networking around inclusive healthcare and research collaboration. Selected oral presenters receive roughly 10 minutes, with the NHS CEP listing specifying a further five minutes for audience questions. Posters are judged at lunchtime. Students, resident doctors and postgraduate learners can compete for academic prizes in both oral and poster categories, and all presenters receive a certificate of participation.
The direct Microsoft abstract form welcomes ARU staff and students, medicine and physician-associate students, clinical academic trainees, resident doctors, other healthcare professionals in training, postgraduate researchers and colleagues from partner organisations and local trusts. It states a submission deadline of 5pm on 26 June 2026, whereas the older NHS CEP and Eventbrite copy show 12 June; the direct live form is treated as the later update and the discrepancy is recorded for review. Submissions are panel-scored, with full poster and presentation instructions sent only to successful applicants. Attendance is free and open to all, but registration is required because the organiser is using full-day versus part-day attendance information to plan capacity. No CPD accreditation, registration closing date or publication outcome is stated.
