World Extreme Medicine Conference 2026

World Extreme Medicine Conference 2026 is built for doctors, students, nurses, paramedics and allied professionals interested in care beyond conventional hospital settings. Across 14–16 November at Dynamic Earth, the live agenda lists 102 sessions spanning expedition and wilderness medicine, humanitarian response, rescue and pre-hospital care, offshore medicine, space medicine, careers and operational performance. The programme combines open Biosphere talks with smaller workshops; selected agenda entries also carry a digital format.

The research route is the WEM26 Poster Competition. You submit a title, authors, abstract and the finished poster together; the poster must be original, relevant to extreme medicine and not previously submitted to WEM or its annual conference. Posters must be A1 in portrait or landscape, uploaded as a PDF no larger than 2 MB, with physical, digital or combined display available. Shortlisted entrants are displayed at the conference and on the WEM website, and in-person finalists are invited to give a five-minute summary. The organiser has not published a poster abstract word limit or closing date.

A separate speaker-proposal route asks for an abstract or proposition of up to 150 words, focused on the intended audience, one big idea, underlying themes, importance, audience benefit and likely influence on practice. Applicants must list at least three learning outcomes; up to two speakers can be included. The page still accepts submissions onto a possible waiting list, although its stated late-April 2026 deadline has passed.

Three-day tickets are £445 for undergraduate students, £485 for F1–F2 doctors and healthcare professionals up to Band 6, and £595 for senior clinicians and managers; one-day intermediate and medic tickets cost £185 and £235. The conference carries 18 RCSEd CPD hours. Workshop booking is due to open at 12:00 on 26 October, some workshops charge extra, and the Sunday ceilidh costs £43.
