The UKISCRS Young Ophthalmologists Programme is a separate full-day meeting for ophthalmic specialty trainees and consultant ophthalmic surgeons in their first three years of practice. The provisional programme covers practical early-career advice, cataract and corneal cases, changing practice and peer discussion, with invited speakers from the UK and overseas.
The resident video competition asks for a surgical case video. The public entry form requests a factual or witty title of fewer than 10 words and a description of no more than 250 words, followed by a separate upload step. The linked SCOPE image competition is open to ophthalmic trainees in the UK or Ireland and asks for a cataract, refractive-surgery or corneal clinical image. Its guidance PDF asks for an explanation of about 100 words, while the live form permits up to 250 words and requests a short factual title.
Both competitions close on 25 September at 23:59. Three image winners each receive an £800 education bursary, UKISCRS Congress registration and a dinner ticket. The video route is presented as part of the YOP programme; the organiser does not state a publication outcome.
The visible early-bird one-day rate for trainees, foundation doctors and medical students is £100, with the early-bird period ending 9 September. The meeting is at the Hard Rock Cafe on Old Park Lane, and places are described as limited. A three-day YOP plus Annual Congress trainee package is also available for £250.
