Trailblazers in Cancer Research: The Next Generation takes place at the Pendulum Hotel in Manchester on 26 and 27 November 2026. BACR describes Trailblazers as organised by and for its Early Career Researchers, aimed at post-docs with less than five years of experience and late-stage PhD students who are BACR members. The stated aim is to bring together the BACR early-career community to share research, network and hear from internationally renowned invited speakers working in cancer research and associated career paths. Abstract submission is a prerequisite for attendance, and the introduction states that attending ECRs will present talks and/or posters under four broad scientific sessions: Cell Signalling and the Tumour Microenvironment, Cancer Omics, Emerging Approaches in Cancer Treatment, and Lifestyle, Nutrition and Cancer. The preliminary programme includes keynotes from Professor Ester Hammond and Professor Campbell Roxburgh, a PPI session with Dr Natalie Yates-Bolton, poster sessions, a poster blitz, abstract-selected talks, a Rising Stars session, a Careers in Science session, conference dinner and closing prize-giving. Registration rates, abstract deadline and CPD status were not visible on the pages inspected, so those fields are left for later enrichment rather than inferred. This is particularly relevant for oncology PhD students, academic clinical trainees and early post-docs looking for presentation experience and BACR networking.
