Who can sit

There are no eligibility requirements for international candidates; UK trainees who have completed MRCP(UK) would normally sit the SCE during higher specialist training.

Before you book

How do I get a place on MRCP(UK) Specialty Certificate Examinations?
Apply only online through the Upcoming Exams section of your My MRCP(UK) account during the published application window, choose a location and pay the fee.
What is the format?
A computer-based exam administered by Surpass at a test centre, with two three-hour papers of 100 best-of-five questions each.
Where is it sat?
From June 2026 all UK and international SCEs are delivered in centre.
When are results?
Results are published through your My MRCP(UK) account 6 weeks after the exam, with certificates about 8 weeks after results release.
What comes after MRCP(UK) Specialty Certificate Examinations?
The SCE is a prerequisite for the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), and trainees should have made at least one attempt by their penultimate year assessment.
