Before you book
How do I get a place on MRCGP SCA?
You book and pay through MyRCGP (My Exams), up to 12 months ahead; you cannot choose your day or session, and your date and time are emailed four weeks before.
What is the format?
Twelve 12-minute consultations with simulated patients played by professional role-players, each with 3 minutes reading time and marked by a different examiner.
How is it marked?
There is no fixed pass mark: it uses borderline regression standard setting, and your overall mark is aggregated across all 12 cases rather than passing a set number of stations.
Where is it sat?
You sit it in a local GP surgery, usually your own, via the Osler online platform, and it is recorded and marked later by examiners.
When are results?
Results are published at 17:00 on the published results date.
What comes after MRCGP SCA?
If unsuccessful you review your feedback with your trainer and rebook through your portfolio, with a waiting list form if your preferred diet is full.
