National Clinical Advisory Group (NCAG)
Clinical assurance of the NHS Pathways triage system content, with expert representatives from member colleges and faculties providing up-to-date clinical guidance.
Academy Resident Doctors' Committee (ARDC)
A committee with over 60 representatives from across 23 medical royal colleges and faculties representing resident doctors in postgraduate training, identifying issues and implementing improvements.
Publications and guidance for trainees
The Academy publishes reports, position statements and best practice guidance relevant to doctors in training, including on self-development time, examination costs, recruitment, and wellbeing.

Academy Resident Doctors' Committee (ARDC)
The ARDC (formerly ATDG) has over 60 representatives drawn from 23 medical royal colleges and faculties. It represents resident doctors in postgraduate training, working to identify issues and improve training, recruitment and retention. Representatives attend from all stages of postgraduate training pathways.
Self-Development Time (SDT) Advocacy
The ARDC has published guidance and case studies on self-development time, advocating for protected non-clinical time for doctors in training to engage in development activities including audit, QI, teaching, and career exploration.
REFORM Principles
The ARDC has published REFORM principles and papers on recruitment and selection, examination costs, and working conditions for resident doctors, aiming to improve experiences and retention.
Broad Based Training (BBT) Programme
A two-year structured programme for post-Foundation doctors offering placements in GP, internal medicine, paediatrics and psychiatry, with trainee representation in the BBT Governance Group.
Clinical Research Advocacy
The Academy Academic Leads Committee advocates for ring-fenced research time, flexible out-of-programme research activities, and funded research pathways for resident doctors at all stages of training.
