How do I get a place on MRCPCH FOP?
Register for an RCPCH exam account at least 10 days before the window opens, then book on the online booking system during the application window; seats are first come, first served.
What is the format?
FOP is computer-based, runs in the morning of the same day as TAS, and lasts 2 hours.
How is it marked?
The pass mark is criterion referenced using the Modified Angoff method, so each candidate is judged against an absolute standard rather than against other candidates.
How many attempts do I get?
Candidates are allowed up to six attempts at each part of MRCPCH; a further attempt needs an application with an educational plan.
Where is it sat?
Most candidates sit in a test centre in the UK or abroad; those who meet remote invigilation criteria (no local centre, more than 200 miles from one, or an approved adjustment) can sit online.
When are results?
Results appear in your RCPCH online account about 6 to 7 weeks after the exam, with a results letter emailed about a week later.
What comes after MRCPCH FOP?
MRCPCH candidates must pass FOP, TAS and AKP before applying for MRCPCH Clinical; DCH candidates who pass FOP can apply for DCH Clinical.
