Before you book

How do I get a place on FRCS Section 2?
Section 2 places are allocated to successful candidates in order of receipt of application to the subsequent Section 1 examination, so have signed reference forms and documents ready when applications open.
Where is it sat?
Section 2 is held at named UK and Irish venues that vary by sitting (for example Edinburgh, Glasgow, Sheffield, Dublin), listed in the JCIE calendar.
When are results?
Section 2 results are available within two weeks of the exam, by letter emailed from the Board Chair; successful candidates are sent a certificate.
What comes after FRCS Section 2?
Success in Section 2 is reported to the four surgical Royal Colleges.
