The Part 2 Written FRCOphth is an online exam testing application of clinical knowledge to diagnosis, investigation and management across the whole OST curriculum.
For candidates in years 4 to 7 of OST or with equivalent training and experience, who must have passed Part 1 FRCOphth.

How do I get a place on FRCOphth Part 2 Written?
Apply through My RCOphth using the link in the exams calendar.
What is the format?
A 180 single best answer multiple choice paper, split into two papers of 90 questions taken on the same day.
How is it marked?
The pass mark is set in advance using the Ebel method; to pass you must achieve the pass mark plus one standard error of measurement.
Where is it sat?
Delivered online with remote proctoring.
What comes after FRCOphth Part 2 Written?
Passing Part 1 and Part 2 Written earns the CertRCOphth, and Part 2 Written is required before the Part 2 Oral.
